RAPT Overview
RAPT: Refugee Action Project Teesside is a cross curricular project working with secondary school staff and students, local communities and local volunteers to raise awareness amongst young people of the causes and consequences of individuals becoming refugees. The aim is that through exploring complex global issues and exploring the links between their own lives and the lives of people, places and issues around the world, RAPT will support young people to take informed action as responsible global citizens.
RAPT is working with 6 secondary schools in the Tees Valley.These are

- Ormesby School in Middlesbrough,
- Redcar Community College in Redcar and Cleveland,
- Egglescliffe School and Norton School in Stockton on Tees,
- St Hild's School in Hartlepool,
- Carmel College in Darlington.
RAPT is being delivered by the project officer, Hilaire Agnama, 12 project volunteers, other staff at Tees Valley One World Centre, and the staff at the project schools. It is supported some local authority advisors and is funded by DFID (Department for International Development), The Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Tees Valley Community Foundation and the project schools.
An integral part of the project is the use of the Escape to Safety exhibition developed by Global Link.
