Students in the Reception Classes have been finding out about different habitats around the world.
They had a visit from Gobi the Camel who came to tell them about life in the Sahara Desert.

All the children found out about the similarities and differences between their environment and the desert.
They worked very hard to write this poem about the Desert.
It’s hot in the Desert!
It is hot in the desert like fire.
It is hot in the desert like the sun.
It is hot in the desert like a pan.
It is hot in the desert like a cup of tea.
It is hot in the desert like an oven.
It is hot in the desert like coffee.
It is hot in the desert like hot chocolate.
The children used a collection of words about "hot" things to describe the weather in the desert.
They have also been dressing up and playing with different types of head gear which would protect them from the hot sun in the desert and help to keep the sand away.

The children did some lovely work...

The children completed worksheets about the desert. They had to colour the pictures which showed things you would find in the desert.
Here are some examples...
